Facebook the recently addictive social aid for today's 'hip culture' (apparently); has lately been reported by journalists such as Jemima kiss as a more dangerous tool than what we thought?
With the possibility to be the victim of identity fraud becoming ever more apparent as naive socializes place there personal details on the Internet, such as Facebook to such an extent that they are an easy target to an exploit by anyone. Making Facebook seemingly less safe than walking to the local corner shop for the mornings paper! Now Facebook can even be a danger to your chances of being employed as employers now are checking up on appliers past history through Facebook comments and then passing judgement on this, so surely this is dangerous as a comment you may make as an adolescent may affect whether or not you get the job! Lately the immensely powerful CIA have purchased an amount of shares in the global Facebook therefore that the CIA now have an ultimate eye and ear on every ones Facebook profile and details making Facebook an almost virtual airport with the CIA acting as the customs system!

• Synergy. Co-operation between businesses for mutual advantage and cross-promotion, eg Prince gives his album away with the Daily Mail. Also used of different products from the same source eg Sony give you Spiderman-the movie, the game etc
• Convergence. Multiple technologies being brought together to form a new product. Games consoles are an excellent example of this .
• Personalisation. Personal choice in using NMTs. Ipods and the iTunes store allow music to be more personalised with users able to buy just the tracks they want from an album and then listen to them anywhere on their individually coloured device. Very important in marketing NMTs. Closely linked to….
• Interactivity. Interactivity means content that is reactive to the audience’s choices. Film at the cinema is un-interactive, you even have to watch the ads, DVDs at home are interactive and offer more options. All the options are limited however. Games may be the most fully interactive NMT.
• Democratisation. The ability to communicate your opinions and ideas, or share your creative output has never been easier thanks to new media technologies. Blogging, which you have all done, is an example of how some power is now in the hands of ordinary people. Some power.
• Digital Divide. Despite all the promo and hype from advertisers and the media industries, and optimistic talk about democratisation, many people still have no daily access to computers or the internet. Think St Barnabus.
• Digitisation. All digital material is made up of a (long) series of 1s and 0s (like a barcode). which means information can be transported more effectively, across the internet, for example; the material can arrive in any order because the receiver can reorder it and, because it is digital, it will be reproduced near- perfectly
• Web 2.0. Where the internet has become a platform for dedicated uses and activities (rather than just a big file or communication system), eg Facebook, Youtube
